Two years

We celebrated our two year anniversary late this year because I was in LA the day of.  A few weekends ago we took a day trip to Athens, OH.  We had an awesome lunch at Casa Nueva, a worker-owned cooperative restaurant.  How cool is that?  I had the tofu enchiladas. Then we went and chilled at a local coffee shop.

SB

I just thought I'd share a photo from the B&B we stayed in during our little trip to Santa Barbara. We lucked out because it was off season so we got one night free. Then the hot tub bath in our room broke so they upgraded our room.

I love B&Bs. We drank tea every afternoon with chocolate cake. We also met some cool people.

Santa Barbara is a special place for us because we celebrated our one year of dating there and we also got engaged there. I'm glad we took a mini trip during our trip and got some down time together.

personality

i am an INFJ. and will is an INFP.

in making new friends here in chicago, people have tended to guess that i am a T. i think i have become more T since being with will, because he is such a huge F (even though i'm very high on the F meter myself). but the funny thing is, he's the nerdier and smarter one. how does that work?

funny moment

this is probably TMI, but i had to share this story.

will has been very busy with school and studying for another exam.  meanwhile, i've been trying to sleep earlier so that i can pray in the morning before i go to work.  this has caused some sleep issues for him, because he sleeps later than me, but he is a very light sleeper so when i get up in the morning, he wakes up too.

hence he hasn't been getting enough sleep.  which worries me.

so the other night, i was in my PJs, brushing my teeth and getting ready for bed.  i called him over:

me:  "honey, can you come over here?  i want to talk to you.  it's important."

i never say things that serious, so he comes to the bathroom.

will:  gives me a funny look, and then says "ok, what do you want to talk about?"
me:  "i'm worried about your sleeping patterns.  let's figure something out that works for both of us so that you get enough sleep."
will:  "ok"

we proceed to have a discussion about that.  meanwhile, he's trying to keep a straight face.  then after the convo is over...

will:  "honey, do you know that..." and he points behind me.
me:  "what?"
will:  (starts laughing)
me:  (i turn around but don't see anything)  "what?"
will:  "your pj pants..."

i turn my head and there is a big tear down the buttcrack of my pj pants.  we both started laughing hysterically.  i immediately wanted to change into something else but he thought it was the funniest thing ever and wanted me to keep them on.

haha.  so much for my serious discussion.

first night apart

last night was my and will's first night apart since being married.  he went out of town for an interview.  i had a hard time saying goodbye.  it made me realize how close we have gotten, just in this last month.  he'll be away a few more times this month.  i miss you honey!

the photo above is one i took of him in kauai at sunset.  will at kee beach pointing at something.

coffee + spice

after my photography class on saturday, i hopped on the bus and went over to the coffee & tea exchange in lakeview.  they sell coffee, tea and spices by the lb or oz.

the coffee beans are kept in barrels, like so...

the coffee averages $8/lb.  and the spices you can buy by ounce, averaging about $1/oz, which is amazing considering prices of spices at the supermarket.

i picked up some spices and fair trade organic coffee from mexico.  will and i used our coffee grinder for the first time that day.

being in lakeview brought back some good memories.  will and i came to chicago over memorial day weekend in 2007 to visit friends, and they lived in lakeview at the time.  i remember walking down broadway and even going into the coffee exchange with will back then.  sometimes i still can't believe i'm actually living here!

although it's been cold and lonely at times, overall i am loving life here!  it's a special time for me and will, making a home and family together in a new city, building new relationships and figuring out life together.
